IB2 HL CASE STUDY 2012: RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATION

You are expected to search for and find an existing Theatre Booking System then compare this with the case study-supplied two Theatre Booking Systems (check them at this site http://www.evene.fr/theatre/coups-de-coeur.php and www.worldticketshop.com ). You can use the list of online booking sites as a starting point in locating your preferred theatre booking system

The main question to consider is: How these Theatre Booking Systems were Developed and how they are Run with respect to:

• Background information about the Theatre Booking System

•Current IT system of Theatre Booking System (list of hardware and software with simple explanation about the purpose of each)

•How dynamic web pages are developed, uploaded and activated in the respective websites

• Problems highlighted in the current Theatre Booking Systems

• Which company (companies) provide services for businesses that sell the tickets online (hint – how does paypal, master and visa cards work ?)

• Other web sites that sell similar products online.

A: EXPECTATION:

• The work will be done in class every Thursday, during lesson 7 and 8 and also during your study times. During class hours I will offer support to those that need.

• Minimum number references, both in text and bibliography, is ten (10) - remember you will be expected to provide in-text references (citation) during your mock and during the final exam

• A comparison and contrast of the Theatre Booking System to be emphasized throughout

• Editing: Grammar checked , spell checked and proof read work to be submitted

• Formatting: The format should be Arial, double spaced, font size 11 for paragraphs, 12 for subtitles, main title and font color black.

• Submission: Electronic copies only – I need to check for plagiarism! To be in MS word format.

• Referencing: Use the MLA referencing style for both in text and bibliography- Google it up if you don’t know how or come for short tutorial on HowTo.

The work is due 18^th November 2011 at the beginning of lesson on Monday

E: ASSESMENT:

- Each paragraph will be marked out of 10 giving 90%

- There will be +5 bonus (or -5 penalty) marks for editing and formatting check

- There will be +5 bonus point or -5 penalty for submission within time or late submission respectively.

- There will be 0% mark for any sort of plagiarism detected or for work not submitted within 4 days.

- This work will contribute 10% towards your year mark (mock exam contributes 70%). The year mark is converted to the predicted grade.
